Remembering Dave Mungenast, Sr.

Dave Mungenast Sr. translated his love for motorcycles and the open road into a small single Honda motorcycle dealership in south St. Louis in 1965. The family business eventually grew to include Mungenast Lexus of St. Louis , Mungenast St. Louis Acura, Mungenast St. Louis Honda, Mungenast Motorsports, Mungenast Alton Toyota-Scion, Mungenast Hyundai, and the Mungenast Automotive Family Collision Assistance Centers. Dave Mungenast, Sr. built the Mungenast Automotive Family on two rules: the Golden Rule and the Platinum Rule. The Golden Rule simply states treat people the way you want to be treated, while the Platinum Rule means treat customers the way in which they wanted to be treated. Dave Sr. knew that taking care of customers through excellent service would be the way to build a business, and he proved that to be true. This tradition has since been carried on and is practiced at every Mungenast Automotive Family store.


Dave Sr. and his wife, Barbara, felt a deep sense of community and giving back to the everyone who helped make them successful. Each year, a portion of the Mungenast Automotive Family profits go to the Dave and Barbara Mungenast Foundation. Recipients of funds from this foundation, include: the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Boys´ Club of St. Louis, St. Louis Food Bank, St. Anthony´s Hospital, and Polly Klaas Foundation for Children, an organization dedicated to the prevention of child abduction. 

Barbara Mungenast along with her three sons: Dave Mungenast, Jr., Ray Mungenast, and Kurt Mungenast continue this tradition today.

Dave Mungenast, Sr. passed away on Sept. 20, 2006, but still lives in the hearts of his family members and associates who worked for him and lived by the rules he set forth. The Mungenast Automotive Family continues to grow under the tradition of excellence that Dave, Sr. pioneered.

The family and associates of Dave Mungenast, Sr. are proud to have worked under his leadership. Not only was he the founder of the Mungenast Automotive Family; he was a mentor, employer, and friend to all who are dedicated in honoring his legacy by continuing what he started.
