The PreExisting Conditions are the musicians that transform Tim's surreal visions and make them incarnate on the material plane.

Personnel:

Tim: Lyrics, music, rhythm and lead guitar, voice, confetti jettison apparatus, and colonial vestigial vapor gun.

Michael Bloom: Bass, occasional guitar, backing vocals, marimba, spode, mandolin, harmonic waffle iron, and advice.

Jon Proudman: Drumset and strikes mysterio-phototectonic trembling dwarf bells with uncanny freneticism. Formerly the drummer for Cul de Sac.

Jimmy the Goat: Tim's alter ego, the one upon whom Tim blames all of his off-color jokes, odd mannerisms, and low moaning noises.

Crystal the Greyhound  (1989-1997): Even in death, Tim's faithful dog continues to transmit her song ideas to her "daddy". Now that's a good dog! (Make a fast friend: adopt a greyhound - http://www.adopt-a-greyhound.org/ )

Former and sometime members:

Frank Gerace: Guest lead guitarist, co-producer for the 2nd Tim album The Un-Stable Boy. He is one-half of the amazing & omnipotent gothic/neo-classical duo Dreamchild.

Cheryl Wanner: Guest backing vocalist, co-producer for the 2nd Tim album The Un-Stable Boy. She is the other half of the spellbinding Dreamchild.

  Joe Turner: Substitute drummer.

Kris Thompson: Keyboard on rare occasions.

Jay Weiser: Drums, Palm Pilot, and Ultra-Hydrogen Oreomatic Skis.

Mac Randall: Blowtorch guitar, harmonies. Has conducted six-string seances with Tim since 1987. Was Senior Editor at Musician magazine and is the author of the excellent Radiohead biography "Exit Music."

Jonno Deily-Swearingen: Drums, keys, harmonies. An all-around multi-instrumental mofo, currently fronting his own band, called Duck Season Fire.

Gary Mendoza: Drums, percussion, Canadian Cigars.

Andy Spano: Keyboards and pre-Walter perambulator. Currently doing a solo electronica thing and DJing.

Daria Johnson: Drums and Mantode Ray (Beware! Beware the Mantode Ray!) She rocks. Moved home to L.A.in May of '99.

Rob Flewell: 2nd guitar from 1993 to 1994, playing in a Richard Thomspsonesque sorta way that worked well with the timsongs. Also played catastrophic trans-uremic farquahr with the omnolence of true margarine. Quite a musician, and an excellent visual artist. Nice guy, too.

The goat behind the curtain...

Tim Mungenast takes his nonsense very seriously, with a stubborn, almost messianic sense of purpose.

He plays '60s-flavored rock that flirts with psychosis, featuring odd chords and even odder lyrics (not to mention some really weird sounds). In concert, his short, improbably catchy songs often melt into loopy extended jams a la early Pink Floyd.

Tim wants to teach us to Jimble the Plamsophic Andante, and mankind will be the better for it.

Born under the sign of Sponge-Matthew, Tim grew up in the frigid, sleepy hamlet of Skaneateles, New York, where he began filtering both High and Low culture through his slightly skewed imagination.

Tim has an alter ego named Jimmy the Goat, who is a full-fledged member of the band even though only Tim can see him.

Tim's Greyhound, Crystal, is also a member of the band, even though she died in 1997. Throughout her life she telepathically sent song ideas to Tim (sometimes simply whispering them into Tim's ear at night), and even now, as a spirit-dog, she continues to be his songwriting partner, friend, and familiar.

Tim's patron saint, Saint Horowitz, watches over Tim's musical endeavors and makes sure everything is Horowictic.

Objects and themes that are sacred to Tim's personal mythology include corn (and soft corn tortillas), sponges, chocolate, neat-looking rocks, goats, spores, and good dogs.

Tim currently lives in the suburbs of Boston with his wife and his daughter, with frequent visitations from Crystal the spirit-dog. It is a somewhat tranquil life that helps him create.
